Adding a page alias in a structure

Do you recall that, when creating a wiki page page names must be unique? Usually this does not present a problem. But consider the Tiki structure that you created... it would be nice if the breadcrumbs for Chapter Two appeared as:

My Tiki Book >> Chapter Two >> Introduction

instead of:

My Tiki Book >> Chapter Two >> Another Introduction

Image what the problem will look like when you add five or ten more chapters!

With Tiki's Page Alias feature, you can make the name Tiki uses in the breadcrumb different from the actual page name.

  1. Return to the Structures page, and review the My Tiki Book structure.
  2. In the Page alias... field for the Another Introduction page, type: Introduction.
    Adding a page alias
  3. Click Save. Tiki saves the information and reloads the page.
  4. Click View for Another Introduction. Tiki displays the page.
    Another Page, with alias
Notice that the breadcrumbs (as well as the page's title) are Introduction. Compare this with how the page appeared without an alias.

Tiki also uses the page alias when generating a structure's table of contents. This allows you to create wiki structures that appear to have identically named pages.
